Dont know if this is possible...
Could we have a flag to say if we want opengl to smooth the texture of an object.
The ability to do this will allow a certain graphics style, probably comparable to say the 16bit consoles where scaling a sprite would make it look pixelated.
Sometimes this is the required outcome and when not smoothed, even though pixelated, the textures can look sharper.

Indeed it is possible using texture filter functions. I have logged a feature request for this as we could use it too.
